The state government of Zamfara has reinstated 556 teaching workers who were recruited by the immediate past administration but left outside the payroll.
This reinstatement was followed from a directive to the state’s Head of Service by Governor Bello Matawalle who directed that, they should immediately be reinstated and their salaries paid with effect from this September.
Governor Bello commended the affected workers for their patience, and maturity, urging them to be of good conduct in the state civil service.
The reinstatement according to the media aide of the governor, Yusuf Idris, was part of the governor’s policy of acting to the complaints from the people of the state.
Alhaji Yusuf said, “The reinstated teachers complained to the governor during a radio phone-in program that they were recruited by the former governor but were not paid. He (the governor) immediately directed the Head of Service to verify the genuineness of their complaints and report back to him.”
Previously last month, Governor Matawalle approved the reinstatement of 1040 workers recruited by the former administration, who was also abandoned.
